BASIC COMPUTER MANAGEMENT AND TROUBLESHOOTING
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become a vital tool in assisting the government to perform its daily Business Processes. Though the application of ICT in public institutions has been growing very fast, and most of government staff (users) are very conversant in using several applications like word processing, accounting packages, human recourses systems and the like but on the other side there is a potential gap in term of managing and sorting out minor hardware related problems which happen to occur in the course of operations. The explained gap at large affects productivity since even for a very minor problem, user need to wait for assistance from ICT experts.
Although public institutions staff uses computers and related equipments in accomplishing their daily tasks, most of them lacks basic computer hardware management and troubleshooting skills and thus they become more dependency to ICT experts. They are even not capable to resolve minor problems which are frequently occurs in the course of daily usage of computers.
Objectives of the Workshop
The objective of this training is therefore to enhance the capacity of public institutions staff in managing and troubleshooting computers and its related hardware like printers, scanners, network equipments etc. The training will improve business continuity in the line of production process and also will reduce work load to ICT expert who are frequently forced to provide support in minor problems to the users.
Upon successful completion of the programme participants will adequately be well versed on computer hardware management and basic troubleshooting which will result to reducing work load to ICT expert and let them focused innovations that will add values to their organisations rather than spend most of their time in troubleshooting minor problems; Increase on productivity; Reduced unnecessary down – time during operations; Operating cost will be reduced especially when ICT expert are hired from private companies. Will also reducing dependency to ICT experts.
The workshop outline targets Officers on Government institution and Agency Senior Officers; Middle and junior Officers from Public Institutions, Private Sector and NGOs.
Proposed duration and method:
The training is designed for 3 days in total. The workshop will be provided in both theoretical and practical.
